Copelands Accommodation
There is a rising spike in homelessness, depression, and suicide rates within WA, especially within the LGBTQI+ sector. Western Australia's first LGBTQI+ youth transitional accommodation service opened its doors in June 2018. The residents consist of a mixture of couples and singles that identify as LGBTQI+ and under the age of 30 years. They are supported by a team of qualified and experienced staff, providing them with the safety and security of a home. The need has been so great that AYLA Inc. has expanded Copeland’s to 4 sites based within the City of Cockburn. Residents are given work opportunities at DION and CON to increase their skill sets and confidence, overcoming their own personal barriers and hardships they are facing in their life.
