Transitional Housing

Our Copelands Transitional Housing Service is a program for for LGBTQI+ youth. As well as housing, Copelands residents receive support from our various wellness services.

Copelands Accommodation

There is a rising spike in homelessness, depression, and suicide rates within WA, especially within the LGBTQI+ sector. Western Australia's first LGBTQI+ youth transitional accommodation service opened its doors in June 2018. The residents consist of a mixture of couples and singles that identify as LGBTQI+ and under the age of 30 years. They are supported by a team of qualified and experienced staff, providing them with the safety and security of a home. The need has been so great that AYLA Inc. has expanded Copeland’s to 4 sites based within the City of Cockburn. Residents are given work opportunities at DION and CON to increase their skill sets and confidence, overcoming their own personal barriers and hardships they are facing in their life.

Eligibility:
• Aged 16-30
• 12-month accommodation program (Extensions are negotiable depending on individual circumstances).
• Rainbow friendly.
• Has experience living independently in the community.
• Is willing to engage in the program and work with Ayla Inc.'s case planner for a minimum of one hour per fortnight to identify and follow through on goals related to personal growth and development.
• Is able to pay fortnightly rent and has confidence with independent living skills.
